cultivating conscious compassion
August 23, 2018-April 25, 2019 | 3-Day Weekend Retreat | 5 Weekend Intensives
Weekly classes meet on Thursdays, 5:30-10 pm in our Zionsville studio
Do you remember what first called you to become a yoga teacher? Now that you have your Yoga Alliance 200-hour teaching certificate and perhaps a few years of teaching under your belt, you realize your 200 hours of training have only scratched the surface of what Yoga is. You yearn for more, eager to dedicate yourself to study Yoga’s ancient traditions and practices, and ready to unveil the person and teacher you know you are.
We have crafted our Advanced Real Life Yoga Immersion to lead you to embody the true Heart of Yoga. During our nine months together, you will learn to be your own guide, following your intelligent intuition and listening to the voice of your inner calling to become a Cultivator of Conscious Compassion, not just another yoga instructor.
You will study what one would expect to in a 300-hour teacher training: the sacred texts of Yoga and Yoga philosophy, and you will learn advanced skills of adjusting, sequencing and energetics. But, we know that real change – the change required to become a yogi dedicated to “living your yoga” in the Self-less service of others through knowledge, wisdom and experience – requires change made from the inside-out.
In our Advanced Immersion you will complete 300 hours of study with master teachers and another optional 300 hours of study on your own. Each week we will share a Sadhana practice together [dedicated practice of elevation/evolution] to help open your Mind, Body and Spirit to higher potentials of Consciousness and Compassion. If you had lost your own practice previously, you will find your way home to your mat. During the course of our time together you will design your own peer-reviewed sequences. You will learn advanced levels of teaching and adjusting. You will practice Svadhyaya, Self-study, through the study of teachers who came before. You will develop a comprehensive, salable workshop. You will practice Karma Yoga, Self-less service to Self and others. You will complete your Immersion an upgraded version of YOU!
Commit to your-Self, your Students and your practice of Yoga. Embody a Yogic life.
The Peace through Yoga Advanced Real Life Yoga Immersion is certified at the 300-hour level by Yoga Alliance, the national credentialing organization for yoga schools and teachers. Applicants accepted to the program will receive a welcome package and book list including required and suggested texts.

mindi epstein, owner
director of teacher training
An avid cyclist and runner, Mindi Epstein came to yoga as a way to move her body in any direction other than forward. She sought a workout in yoga to complement her other activities, but found instead an ages-old practice that balances her body and mind, opens her heart and brings a deep and lasting tranquility.
After a long career as a Senior Vice President of marketing and communications for a large not-for-profit organization, Mindi found that she could motivate more people through classes, personal yoga instruction and yoga teacher training than through a mass marketing campaign.
In September 2013, Mindi founded Main Street Yoga in Speedway, IN to serve a growing town with expanding interests that lacked a yoga studio. The Speedway community quickly embraced Main Street Yoga as their own. In the spring of 2014, Mindi acquired Peace Through Yoga in Zionsville. Less than one year later, she opened a third studio in Danville, right on the main square of this quaint, historic town. Peace through Yoga expanded to a fourth location in Franklin in October 2017. Today, four warm and welcoming studios bring serenity to the heart of Zionsville, Speedway, Danville and Franklin Indiana.
Mindi inspires her students to find beauty in their bodies and deeper meaning in their lives through individual expression of yoga poses. She brings sensitivity and attention to alignment in her classes so her students may deepen their awareness and experience the fullness of life both on and off the mat. Her concept of “real life yoga” makes Peace through Yoga’s neighborhood studios warm and inviting without pretense or judgment. As the Founder and Creative Director of Peace through Yoga’s Real Life Yoga Immersion, Mindi has expanded this concept of living your yoga to the training of future teachers and dedicated yoga practitioners in thorough and inspirational training programs that exceed Yoga Alliance’s requirements for the 200- and 300-hour certifications.

CERTIFIED YOGA THERAPIST , E-RYT 500, E-RYT 200
Nancy discovered yoga as an I.U. Bloomington art student in the mid ‘70’s, and it has been an integral part of her life ever since. Her main influences have been the Sivananda Yoga Ashrams where she studied and was on staff between 1986 and 1992 and where she earned her first 200 and 500 hour yoga teaching certifications, and Ashtanga Vinyasa where she was privileged to study directly under Sri K. Pattabhi Jois.
Nancy has training in many other traditions as well. She studied in India for three months in 1995. Upon returning to her hometown of Indianapolis in 1997, after 12 years in south Florida growing her organic farm and on Maui for 5 years, Nancy helped establish the Indiana Yoga Association (IYA) and served on its Board of Directors.
Recognized as a pioneer in the Indianapolis yoga community, Nancy is the founder of All People Yoga Center and the creator of the teacher training program there, which she taught from 1999 through 2007.
Nancy earned her Yoga Therapist Certification in 2007 with Integrative Yoga Therapy of Brazil so she could help relieve suffering in those experiencing serious illness and injury, as well as in their care-partners. She then created Heartland Yoga Therapy, Inc., which provided yoga therapy services at the Indiana University Hospital, the Rehabilitation Hospital of Indiana and elsewhere. Nancy now helps conduct yoga research at the Roudebush Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Studies there include yoga for people with stroke injuries, traumatic brain injuries, fibromyalgia and other pain syndromes, and soon, post-traumatic stress (PTSD).
Nancy encourages an open heart and present-moment mindfulness sees the best in her students and seeks to empower each toward Self Realization.
Our Advanced Real Life Yoga Immersion is divided into 5 modules corresponding to the Pancha Mahabhuta, the 5 Elements of Creation.
Each class will be packed with explorations in sequencing, philosophy, adjusting, alignment, anatomy, teaching tools, pranayama and breathing techniques, concentration, meditation and, of course, Self-study.
EARTH: BEGIN where you are – The real question then is, where exactly are you? The journey begins by figuring out where we are. Think of it as placing your proverbial map pin in the “You are Here” location. Like real estate, location is key. In order to build up, we must start from a good location and foundation, which you have already established. Let’s begin here!
WATER: REALIZATION you already have everything you need. Yoga is typically defined as uniting or union, to yoke or join something. But, in order to join something, there is an implication that the two things being joined are apart from each other. This simply is not the case for anything in the known Universe. Everything is connected, intimately and inescapably. We will delve into this deep Truth of ancient yogic teachings and texts emerging to understand and realize that we are merely remembering what we already knew: we have everything we will ever need with-IN.
FIRE: ELEVATE your experience. Learn to embody the practices, philosophy and lifestyle of yoga. Upgrade and evolve your physical, mental, energetic, intuitive and conscious bodies through Sadhana, service, study and practice.
AIR: REFINE and EXPAND. Master the art and science of yoga instruction by advancing your knowledge, wisdom, experience and practice of the vast and endless exploration of yoga.
AETHER/SPACE: BECOME a Cultivator of Conscious Compassion. Wherever you go, by your actions, words, practices and classes, demonstrate with integrity what “living your yoga” can truly be at its utmost. A cultivator cares and makes friends with what it hopes to foster into growth and development. To be conscious is to be aware beyond the limits of body and mind, waking up to the Truths of Life. All of this reminds us of the highest Truth…Compassion. Every breath is sacred, every moment significant if we realize Life is a Gift, all the time, through all time. Learn to share the overwhelming joy and awe that arises from being a Cultivator of Conscious Compassion.

Our Advanced Immersion enrollment includes a 3-day weekend get-away to the “rustic” Sugar Creek Retreat. Beautifully restored cabins, camp-fire pits, quiet corners indoors and out for meditation, and miles of trails for hikes and walking meditations await you for group- and Self-study. Though only one hour away from Indianapolis, this remote location adjacent to Shades State Park is worlds away from anything to distract you from the work you have come to do.
