immersion program | 200-Hour Training

we meet you where you are

March 26 – October 29, 2017  |  Sundays 12:45-6 pm  |  Speedway

Peace through Yoga’s Real Life Yoga Immersion is an authentic, well-organized and comprehensive program to bring the ancient teachings of yoga to life in a contemporary world. We have crafted this immersion program to engage dedicated yogis, future teachers and healthcare workers in studies to embrace the practical and philosophical aspects of “living your yoga.”

Our Immersion is a new approach to traditional teacher training. Whether you wish to bring yoga teachings and practices to your personal or professional life, or you seek training to become a yoga instructor, the 200 hours of our Real Life Yoga Immersion program will lay the foundation for a meaningful lifelong practice. Your studies will challenge you to ask questions of yourself. Our instructors will lead you into a deeper awareness of your body in time and space. Together, our teachers and your fellow students will join you on a path of self-discovery.

Satisfy your personal calling at our next semester in March 2017.

The Peace through Yoga Real Life Yoga Immersion is certified at the 200-hour level by Yoga Alliance, the national credentialing organization for yoga schools and teachers.

Karma Yoga: Our students participate in a project to raise funds for our Peace through Yoga Foundation.

real life yoga immersion curriculum

Our Real Life Yoga Immersion is divided into 4 modules of weekly classes. Each class begins with an opening ritual and an asana practice relevant to the day’s studies. Lecture, discussion and experiential learning form the heart of the class, followed by an asana intensive focusing on a group of poses. This portion of the class includes Sanskrit terminology and a thorough examination of each of pose. Students will learn and practice alignment techniques, safe entry into and out of the poses, verbal cues, manual adjustments, use of props and energetic awareness. The end of class is marked by a closing ritual honoring the students and teachers.

    • Root Module:  Laying the Foundation
Origins and history of yoga. Introduction to the sacred texts of yoga. Yoga philosophy with concentration on the 8 Limbs of Yoga.
    • Identity Module:  The Authentic Self
Effective teaching through building, cueing and modifying the postures. Creative teaching through theming and sequencing. Exploration of the physical and subtle bodies (including the chakra system and breath work).

    • Compassion Module:  The Physical Body and Empathic Heart
Understanding the mechanics of the body: functional anatomy and physiology. Identifying physical limitations, trauma and emotional dis-ease, and adjusting the practice accordingly. Includes Ayurveda and the body temple.

    • Wisdom Module:  Integration of Body Mind and Spirit
Meditation, deep relaxation and the yoga life. The ethics of being a teacher. Yoga as service.
