Working from the Inside Out

Those who practice yoga have likely heard yoga is “an inside job.” True, indeed. Our time on the mat leads us to the 5th of the 8 Limbs of Yoga – pratyahara, withdrawal of the senses – when we shift the direction of our energy and awareness from the outside environment to the vast world within. It is here where we connect with our Higher Power and radiate love from the inside out.

Yoga is an outside job too. As a neighborhood yoga studio nestled in three communities, we profoundly feel this calling. For this reason we are proud to announce Peace through Yoga’s pledge of support for the Arthritis Foundation of Indiana. Both the Arthritis Foundation and Peace through Yoga are committed to improving people’s lives. Statistics demonstrate that 1 in 5 adults over the age of 18 and 1 in 250 children suffer from arthritis. Certainly we are witness to this in our classes.

Peace through Yoga’s mission is to meet people where they are, physically, spiritually and geographically. Research has demonstrated – as we see time and again among our students – that yoga can help individuals manage chronic pain and improve the functioning of their joints. We meet our students where they are by helping them develop a yoga practice that is as personal and unique as they are.

We wholeheartedly support the Arthritis Foundation’s mission to “chart a winning course, guiding families in developing personalized plans for living a full life – and making each day another stride towards a cure.” Our support of the Arthritis Foundation of Indiana’s commitment to providing life-enhancing services to almost 1.4 million people in our state is yet another expression of Peace through Yoga’s “real life yoga.” Whether inside our studios or out in the community, we champion efforts to help people lead fuller, healthier and more gratifying lives.
